INDIVIDUAL

Therapy

As an individual, you may be seeking services to process a current life experience, confront a history of trauma, or somewhere in between. Individual sessions remain from an attachment lens, through an EFIT modality. First sessions for new clients require an hour and a half for intake. After this, it is your choice as to how long you would prefer to book the session.

At this time, individual sessions are offered to those that are 14 years and older. It is recommended, that those under the age of 14, receive family counselling. Parents of children between the ages of 14 and 16 will be asked to sign a contract as to what confidentiality will look like between the clinician and client. It is important that your child understand their rights to confidentiality and where you stand in terms of it. This will be discussed in detail at the initial session, which will include the parent.

COUPLES

Therapy

As a couple, you may be seeking services to enhance your relationship, looking to repair a relationship attachment injury (betrayal, abandonment, etc.) or somewhere in between. Through the lens of Emotionally Focused Therapy, your relationship with your partner remains the focus and the client with which to strengthen your bonds and bring you closer to one another.

Please note: this form of counselling requires an initial four session commitment which lays the foundation in understanding the intricacy of your dance as a couple. Sessions two and three will require an 80 minute time slot.

FAMILY

Therapy

As a family you may be seeking to strengthen familial bonds, rebuild familial structure (divorce, step-families, loss of a family member, mental health) and/or repair attachment injuries. Through the lens of Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, the family unit remains the focus and the client with which to strengthen the bonds that bring you closer together as a family unit.

Family therapy is not typically recommended for children 5 and under. Most often it would be more beneficial for couples counselling, should you have young children. If struggles within the family dynamic still exist as the children grow, the couples counselling would provide a base with which to grow from in terms of family therapy.

PLAY

Therapy

In cases where individual counselling is required for younger children to process bigger emotions such as grief, loss, trauma, etc., best practice is through play therapy. Christie Frenette, MSW, RSW, owner at Riptide Counselling has begun to receive training (working towards certification) in play therapy and can offer it on a case by case basis.

Please note: Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 and the nature of this intervention, our ability to offer this service is currently limited. However, in certain circumstances it is possible to offer this service in an online format.
